Twitter accidentally shares user location data with advertising partner

< 1 Minute Read

USA: Twitter Inc announced on Monday that it had unintentionally collected and shared location data of some of its users on iOS platforms with its advertising partner.

In its blogpost, the microblogging platform said that the information was not retained and that it only existed in their systems for a short time, and was then deleted as part of their normal process. Twitter also communicated with the people whose accounts were impacted to let them know the bug has been fixed.

Twitter also confirmed that the advertising partner did not receive any data that could have compromised identity.

This security issue is Twitter’s fourth bug in the past year. In January this year, Twitter found a security fault in its Android application that led to disclosure of private tweets of undisclosed users that was available since 2014.
