India: Government of India’s policy think tank, NITI Aayog has requested both central and state ministries to classify important areas where artificial intelligence (AI) could be implemented, thus, solving critical issues in areas pertaining to health, agriculture and education.
NITI Aayog estimates AI to add $15.7 trillion to the Indian economy by 2030, thus, making it the biggest commercial in India.
The former Planning Commission, estimates AI to add $957 billion to India’s GDP by 2035. Thus, increasing India’s annual growth by 1.3%.
In his letter to all central and state ministries, Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog said, “”I write to request you to identify key projects where AI can be developed to solve problems affecting the health sector that you wish to drive forward.”
Kant further added “Niti Aayog has a team that works on the AI programme and I would like to extend all help in providing necessary support, connecting to the concerned stakeholders and any other matter that may be required.”
In 2018, the Ministry of Finance assigned NITI Aayog to develop a National Program for AI.
