Geoff Zeiss has more than 20 years experience in the geospatial software industry working with utilities, communications, and public works in enterprise geospatial IT around the world. For eleven years Geoff was responsible for thought leadership, evangelization, and industry messaging for the utility industry program at Autodesk. Geoff”s interests include convergence of engineering design, geospatial and 3D; intelligent cities,; electric utilities and energy efficient buildings; productivity, knowledge transfer and the aging workforce; optimizing utility business processes and information flows for the smart grid; smart grid and managing big data in real-time. Geoff has been active on the Board of of the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGEO), and is currently on the Board of the Open Geospatial Consortium. He participates in government initiatives including the Geomatics Community Round Table and the Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure (CGDI) initative. For most of his early career, Geoff led software development teams. He was directly involved in some of the largest successful implementations of location-aware integrated design and records management enterprise softare systems in the utility and telecommunications sectors. In 2004, he received one of ten annual global technology awards from Oracle Corporation for technical innovation and leadership in the use of Oracle.
