How Geo tagging helped Delhi clean its streets

VO 1: Delhi government is eyeing a cleaner city with location technology

Swachh Delhi app allows users to click pictures of garbage heaps around their residence

Pictures are automatically geo-tagged and sent to a centralized control room

Nearly 43717 complaints were received by municipal corporations in 10 days in November

This is the first time geo-tagging has been used on such a large scale to clean a city in India

SOT: Sandeep Mishra, Additional Secretary, Urban Development Department

As soon as the complaints come, we know about the latitude and longitude of the image from where it has come and then we can go to the google map, where a pin is dropped at the location and then a SMS is sent to the ward functionary and then the latitude, longitude as well as the location goes to the functionary, so it is very easier for him to identify the place.

SOT: Resident, Delhi

We click a picture and send it through Swachh Delhi app. After sending the picture, the concerned area is cleaned and we are satisfied with it.
