Intergraph Benelux announced that West-Vlaamse Energie- en Teledistributiemaatschappij (WVEM) selected Intergraph’s G/Technology and GeoMedia software as the enabling AM/FM/GIS platform for its Enterprise Network Resource Management System. Located in Flanders, WVEM is a multi-utility, providing electric, gas and telecommunications (both coaxial and fiber) services to more than 200,000 customers. The contract, valued at $2.2 million (U.S.), consists of Intergraph Mapping and Geospatial Solutions’ software, maintenance and professional services, including project management and implementation services. The Enterprise Network Resource Management System will replace the company’s legacy GDS system from which data will be migrated into G/Technology’s open geospatial warehouse. G/Technology will be used to manage WVEM’s electrical, gas and coaxial/fiber infrastructures. GeoMedia’s open architecture and live data integration will enable WVEM to bring all relevant geospatial data into a single environment. The comprehensive project will also include integration with other corporate systems, such as SAP and network calculation applications. Intergraph was chosen because of the many longstanding and successful partnerships with utility companies in the Benelux area, as well as the potential of Intergraph’s state-of-the-art and industry-specific technology to meet WVEM’s objectives now and in the future. The first phase of the project will start immediately with several incremental deliveries beginning in April of 2004.
