Applanix has recently announced that Wuhan University, one of the largest universities in China with a well-established geomatics engineering facility, has purchased its POS AV 510 (Position and Orientation System Airborne Vehicles). Canada based Applanix, a wholly owned subsidiary of Trimble, develops, manufactures, sells and supports precision products that accurately and robustly measure the position and orientation of vehicles in dynamic environments. The university’s School of Remote Sensing Information Engineering will be using the system on its RC30 aerial camera to expand its geodetic surveying, remote sensing and GIS data acquisition capabilities for geospatial research.
The Applanix POS AV is an integrated inertial position and orientation system specifically designed to provide direct georeferencing data for all types of airborne sensors. The system integrates precision GPS with inertial technology to provide real-time and post-processed information for aerial cameras, LIDAR systems, imaging scanners and synthetic aperture radar.
