WeGO to award Indian city’s e-government initiative

Bangalore, India: The GIS based property identification (PID) number system of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagar Palike (BBMP) will be awarded by the World eGovernments Organisation of Cities and Local Governments (WeGO).

As said by Mayor D Venkatesh Murthy, more than 150 city corporations had applied for the award which the BBMP had won under the eGovernance category.

Along with Murthy, Deputy Mayor L Srinivas, chairman (Taxation and Finance) Muneendra Kumar and Manjunath Raju, IT advisor to Commissioner Sheshadri will go to Barcelona to receive the award next month.

“At present, property owners are under the net. The service will also be extended to water supply, street light, road and tree histories under GIS,” said Murthy while discussing about upgradation plans of the present PID system.
