Web GIS launched for rural roads of Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh

India, 19 March 2007 – The largest ever Rural Road development project (expected cost around $26 billion) in India, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) has hosted web GIS for Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh to provide transparency in implementation of this project and providing interactive spatial information to citizens as well as officials for monitoring and management of works.

Web GIS software GRIMMS-Web is designed to run various spatial queries related with rural road, habitations, work progress etc and also provides various GIS functionality. GRIMMS Web is Web-GIS solution using the SQL Server data of Online Management and Monitoring System (OMMS), for dissemination of selected information. The OMMS data is getting updated online continuously. The graphical data (spatial data) will be updated as per the requirement.

GRIMMS-Web can be accessed at the link https://www.omms.nic.in/grimms and requires least familiarization time and no installation at client end. PWD Rajasthan, PWD Himachal Pradesh and C-DAC, Pune has provided the necessary support for this project.
