The President of the Federal Republic of Germany H.E. Dr. Johannes Rau visited the National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA) on March 6, 2003. The President was accompanied by a high-level delegation. Chairman ISRO Dr. K. Kasturirangan and senior scientists from the Department of Space were present. Welcoming the President, Director, NRSA Dr. RR Navalgund mentioned about the Indo-FRG collaboration dating back to over two decades.
Chairman, ISRO made a presentation to H.E the President and the delegation on the Indian Space Programme. He recalled the long and fruitful association of India with Germany in the area of space research and remote sensing, particularly in the field of environment, forests and other related areas. He highlighted the use of space technology in India in the areas of education, healthcare, disaster management support and natural resource study.
The German President appreciated the efforts put in by India in the application of Space technology for healthcare, tele-education, food security and many other civilian uses, and lauded the cooperation between the two countries.
