USAID donates GIS-based environment analysis tool

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic: The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) provided a system called “Assist NEPA.” It is GIS-based tool to assist in analysis of the environment in decision-making.

Duty Greene, economic policy adviser, USAID, said that the systems, worth USD 289 000, will contribute to transparent processes for assessing the impact of certain projects in natural resources. Jaime David Fernandez Mirabal, Environment Minister, Dominican Republic, said that months long training will be provided to staffs for handling of the system.
