US: Kentucky”s Area Development Districts are working with the US Economic Development Administration, Kentucky Department of Agriculture, Governor”s Office of Agriculture Policy and Kentucky Agricultural Council on a $1 million, two-year project to create a central clearinghouse for agricultural information for all 120 counties. The Kentucky Agricultural Development Information System is scheduled to go online in late 2015 with interactive maps chock full of farming facts for each county.
“We”ve mapped sewer lines and industrial parks. But some agriculture assets haven”t been mapped until now. We want to identify sites conducive to large agricultural projects. I hope to see our economic development efforts freely incorporate agriculture,” said Chris Sutton, executive director of the Pennyrile Area Development District and chairman of the Kentucky Area Development District Agriculture Committee.
