US: At the annual space conference hosted by Space Foundation, NIA director Letitia Long told media that the US government will eventually approve a bid by commercial space imagery provider DigitalGlobe to sell higher resolution satellite images. She said that while intelligence agencies backed the effort, the White House was still coordinating the positions of the Pentagon, Commerce Department, State Department and other agencies.

Although, she said that did not know when a decision would be announced, she added that “it’s no more a question of yes or no. It's a question of when and how." Media reports point towards a phase-by-phase implementation of the relaxed norm over the course of the year.
