USA – The U.S. Forest Service releases an updated map showing where people can and cannot go off roading on national forest lands.
Also rangers will start enforcing the new restrictions from today, meaning if you get caught off roading where you’re not supposed to, you’ll get hit with a $250 fine.
The new maps include Peavine Peak, the Martis area between Reno and Truckee and the mountains to the west of Carson City.
In 2005, the head of the Forest Service identified off roading as one of the four biggest threats to national forest lands. Since then it has been creating the map, keeping some trails open while closing others to minimize the impact to nature.
