UK: Google has added UK theme parks and tourist attractions to its increasingly advanced Google Maps service, enabling users to take a virtual tour of the attraction before a visit. Some of UK’s top theme parks like Alton Towers, Chessington’s World of Adventures, Thorpe Park and Weymouth’s Sea Life Centre have been included in the maps.
Google Maps uses 360 degree mapping technology to capture these tourist attractions at street level, allowing users to explore the locations, familiarise themselves with the layout of each park and subsequently plan their visits.
A representative of the Google Street View team, Laura Scott, explained what the improved and more inclusive maps feature can be used for. She said, “With summer around the corner and the family clamouring for some adventure, Street View should prove the ideal planning tool for a great day out at any of these exhilarating locations.”
