UK University establishes open source geospatial lab

UK: The University of SouthHampton, one of the leading research universities in the UK, has announced the establishment of an Open Source Geospatial Laboratory which aims to support the growing demand for the development of open source geospatial software technologies, trainings and expertise across various industries.

The Laboratory engage in open source research for geospatial software and data, using open source geospatial software and data as tools and contributing to the development of tools, standards and data through research. In addition, the Laboratory will also deliver open source geospatial training and programmes.

The University of Southampton Open Source Geospatial Laboratory (OSGL) is one of the members of a worldwide network developed under the auspices of the ICA-OSGeo Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
