Uganda: In a bid to map properties in the region, the Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) is looking forward to set up a system that will be able to capture information about all properties with the help of GIS. The system will map various attributes, facilities, assets and organisational data in a digital format with appropriate layers.
Jennifer Musisi from KCCA said GIS technology will be able to do a 3D analysis of the number of floors on a commercial building, number of rooms or the number of apartments and that will enable them to catergorise properties accordingly.
3D technology enables one see pictures in a more complete and clearer way. Musisi further said that using GIS technology will widen their tax base and boost revenue collections.
