Turkey Yellow Pages signs deal with NAVTEQ

Istanbul, Turkey: Turkey Yellow Pages has signed a 5 year strategic partnership with NAVTEQ and Nokia Global Mapping Platforms. According to the details of the agreement, Turkey Yellow Pages will be a key strategic partner of NAVTEQ – a company owned by Nokia, in providing comprehensive and categorised Turkish based business listing information and POI’s (Point of Interest). This local search company will be the sole reseller of 2 new innovative location based mapping and navigation advertising products (offered by NAVTEQ and Ovi Maps) as well.

Turkey Yellow Pages will provide its entire business listing and POI database to NAVTEQ and Nokia’s Ovi Maps for inclusion in their respective global mapping platforms. This represents over 500,000 accurate and updated businesses and POI’s from throughout Turkey. Turkey Yellow Pages will also provide NAVTEQ and Nokia with weekly updates to the database to ensure data accuracy on all platforms.

Ovi Prime Place service from Nokia will give Turkish businesses the ability to load rich content attributes of their respective businesses on Ovi Maps both on web and mobile. Rich content like photographs, business hours, payment details, a 1000 character business profile and searchable keywords will make businesses investing in this offer much more discoverable on maps.ovi.com and on Ovi Maps for Nokia devices.

David Assouline, NAVTEQ’s EMEA Director Location Content Products, said, “NAVTEQ has invested heavily in recent years in Turkey. We opened 3 offices and creating the best possible maps for Turkey by including over 500,000 validated Turkey Yellow Pages businesses listings and POI’s into our global mapping database. We feel the NAVTEQ mapping and navigation user experience will be second to none in the Turkish market.”

Goktug Oguz, General Manager of Marketing & eBiz at Turkey Yellow Pages added, “Both NAVTEQ and Nokia performed much due diligence on our data assets which gave them confidence moving forward with this strategic partnership. Our goal is to not only grow the TYP database to nearly 2 million business listings in the near future but also ensure they are always accurate and updated.”

“The NAVTEQ Direct Access and Ovi Prime Place local search advertising offerings, we will launch in April. They will allow us to offer our clients a completely new location based advertising platform for their businesses to be found on. The future really is in mapping, navigation and proximity search,” added Mr. Oguz.

Anne-Sophie Lanier, Senior Manager, Business Development at Nokia Services, said, “We are very excited to work with NAVTEQ and Turkey Yellow Pages to enable Ovi Maps users in Turkey. With over 80 million GPS-enabled Nokia devices distributed worldwide, we are bridging the gap between the real and virtual world and bringing together people, places and businesses.
