Sunnyvale, US: Trimble has made two major acquisitions. It acquired seismic survey software provider Dynamic Survey Solutions and a provider of print and digital maps for outdoor enthusiasts MyTopo. Financial terms were not disclosed.
According to the company’s press statement, the acquisition of Dynamic Survey is expected to expand Trimble’s presence in the seismic survey industry. The business will be reported as part of Trimble’s Engineering and Construction segment. Dynamic Survey Solutions’ GPSeismic suite of software applications are designed specifically for the seismic survey industry to process and manage data. It supports more than 50 types of survey instruments ranging from GPS to inertial and conventional survey systems and offers a comprehensive set of tools for the land seismic surveyor.
“Supporting a broad range of survey systems in use has given us the ability to work with an extremely diverse client base. With the acquisition, this aspect of our business will not change,” said Cliff Harris, founder and president of Dynamic Survey Solutions. “As part of Trimble we will have an opportunity to apply our industry knowledge beyond office software to field operations.”
Anders Rhodin, Director of Trimble’s Survey Business, said, “Combining the strength of the Trimble survey product portfolio and the superior seismic software from Dynamic Survey Solutions will result in an advanced solution for the seismic survey market, both in data collector functionality and GPSeismic integration.”
About the acquisition of MyTopo, the company’s press statement stated that the acquisition will expand Trimble’s ability to offer unique map content and new outdoor-centric products. It will also enhancing its mobile apps—Trimble Outdoors, AllSport GPS, Geocache Navigator, Cabela’s Recon Hunt and Backpacker GPS Trails. Rich Rudow, general manager for Trimble Outdoors, said, “MyTopo brings top-notch maps with enhanced quality and rich features to our customers and partners such as Cabela’s and Backpacker magazine.”
Trimble Outdoors’ customers can access the new maps at www.trimbleoutdoors.com. The digital maps are available on more than 300 smartphones and mobile handsets that run Trimble Outdoors mobile apps.
