Trimble has announced that its Component Technologies Division has been awarded the Quality Systems Requirements QS-9000 certification, an internationally recognized endorsement for quality management and quality assurance for automotive suppliers.
Registration (Certificate No. 103701) was granted by Bureau Veritas Quality International (BVQI), an independent, third party registrar that is accredited in Germany, the Netherlands, the U.K. and the U.S.
QS-9000 was developed by DaimlerChrysler, Ford and General Motors–the U.S. Big Three automakers–for its internal and external suppliers. The standards are based on continuous improvement, emphasizing defect prevention, reduction of variation and waste, and it includes ISO 9000 requirements.
Trimble’s certification assures automotive electronic customers that the processes for the design, development, manufacture, service, and support of the Company’s Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers adhere to the QS-9000 quality management standard, and meet the increasing quality requirements of the global automotive marketplace.
QS-9000 compliance is an ongoing process, and Trimble’s internal auditing team and management review team will continuously monitor the “Quality System” for effectiveness as well as drive continuous process improvement. In addition, a representative from the registrar, BVQI, will carry out surveillance audits every six months until certification renewal in three years.
