Torrent website to host networks on GPS-guided drones

US: The Pirate Bay (TPB), a bittorrent website, announced to take its networks off the earth’s surface. It is considering launching a series of ‘GPS-controlled drones, far-reaching cheap radio equipment and tiny new computers like the Raspberry Pi’ to float the Low Orbit Server Stations (LOSS). Through this way, it aims to keep the website safe from law enforcement officials.

The TPB made this announcement at the Chaos Computer Conference, when hacktivists proposed a satellite for communications which could not be blocked by governments.

One of the TPB’s representatives stated that the LOSS are still in the preliminary stages of development, but will be able to achieve a data transfer rate of 100Mbps per node from up to 50km from the radio transmitter.

In addition, the TPB plans to test its hosting drone over international waters and said that any attempt to destroy the devices by aeroplane will be a “real act of war”.
