Chicago, US: NAVTEQ launched a free online service where drivers can calculate the savings which can be made by using a navigation system.
The service is available at . It is based-on a simple questionnaire. Once details such as engine size, fuel type, mileage and whether driving is mainly urban or rural have been entered into the system, it clearly shows the individual benefits of using navigation including fuel reduction in litres/gallons and the equivalent cost savings, reduction in annual kilometres/miles driven and hence time saved and cuts in CO2 emissions.
NAVTEQ research has shown that, on average, annual distances driven can be reduced by around 2,500 kilometres and fuel consumption cut by 12percent – equating to a savings of over 400 Euros per year. The environment also benefits with a fall in annual CO2 emissions of around 24 percent per driver and a decrease in wear and tear on tyres which significantly cuts disposal figures. Using the new online savings calculator set up by NAVTEQ, drivers can calculate the potential savings in relation to their own individual cars, driving habits and local fuel prices.
“The results provided are very detailed and precise and based on a comprehensive study conducted by NAVTEQ which included extensive test driving,” explained Bruno Bourguet, Senior Vice President, NAVTEQ Sales EMEA. “This tool gives the driver insight into their unique drive-style to help them understand and take advantage of the savings – monetary and environmental – that come with navigation.”
This useful tool is available in the USA and 24 European countries: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Poland, Republic of Ireland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.
