US: Terrebonne Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (TOHSEP) has chosen TerraGo Edge for mobile teams that need to perform property and infrastructure damage assessments in the wake of hurricanes, storms and other natural disasters.

Located in southern Louisiana along the Gulf of Mexico, Terrebonne is one of the areas that were hit the hardest by hurricanes and other natural disasters in recent years. TOHSEP teams, often working in conjunction with state, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), American Red Cross and citizen emergency response team (CERT) volunteers will fan out in property zones to assess the damage after a disaster event.

TOHSEP needs a mobile solution that can be instantly deployed to individuals and organizations, available on personal phones or government-issued tablets, for both iOS and Android. According to Earl Eues, Director of the Terrebonne Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, “In the event of a disaster, we can’t count on Internet access. That is a lesson we learned during Hurricane Gustav. With TerraGo GeoPDFs and TerraGo Edge, property maps and imagery will always be available in an emergency, even without an Internet connection.”
