Seitel, Inc. has announced that it has chosen Tobin International, Ltd. as its supplier of mapping information for its Seitel Solutions data management services. Tobin International, Ltd., is recognized worldwide as the leading map data and software company managing land-based assets in a variety of industries including oil and gas, utilities, pipelines and government. Tobin owns the largest single, dynamic, continuous topologically structured map base data coverage in the commercial world.
The map base data is used in a wide variety of industry applications and is designed to work with most mapping, Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) and Geographic Information System (GIS) software.
“Tobin’s Superbase(TM) is expected to enhance the content, and thus the value, of the seismic data and related services available to our customers through Seitel Solutions. The ability to overlay our 2-D and 3-D seismic data on existing land surveys, well locations, pipeline locations, roads and other points of reference, provides invaluable information to the oil and gas geoscientist,” stated Paul A. Frame, President and Chief Executive Officer.
As stated previously, the Houston, Texas data center remains on schedule for a mid-March 2002 opening and will be followed by the early spring 2002 opening of the Calgary, Alberta data center. Once the data centers are operational, Seitel’s customers will be able to display, review and order seismic data through the Company’s website.
