Thermal Airborne Spectographic Imager

ITRES Research Limited recently announced the development of the Thermal Airborne Spectrographic Imager (TASI), a new high-performance hyperspectral thermal sensor. The TASI will be a commercially available pushbroom hyperspectral thermal infrared mapping sensor. The TASI-600 is a 14 bit, high-precision hyperspectral pushbroom thermal imager that offers up to 32 contiguous spectral channels between 8 and 11.5 microns over 600 across-track pixels. The system will be calibrated to NIST standards and will be capable of producing georeferenced and orthocorrected imagery through the use of a precision IMU/GPS and digital terrain information. Additional applications with this sensor may include: generating true temperatures, determining emission of land cover features, detecting sub-surface temperature anomalies, aquatic habitat mapping, urban heat loss, land mine, UXO and target detection, mineral mapping, gas and debris detection. The development of this hyperspectral thermal imager will be completed in 2006. ITRES is a technology company specializing in the development, manufacturing, and use of hyperspectral airborne sensors.
