Thailand to use GIS for government supervision

The Thai government will put forward its state mission plan to the Cabinet for consideration on April 12. The plan will have significant influence on budget preparation by different government agencies and state enterprises. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Somkid Jatusripitak said the management of each ministry, provinces and enterprises will have to use the to-be-approved mission plan as the guideline in drawing their strategy to meet the government’s expectation.

Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra said it will bring into use the GIS to supervise the operations of government agencies to boost their efficiency. The GIS tool will also help the government develop the country’s agricultural sector through using special-purpose vehicles. The vehicle will be a mediator in solving problems in funding and marketing while the Ministry of Transport Ministry will take care of their transportation costs.
