Thai space agency launches Space Krenovation Park

Thailand: Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (Public Organisation), the space agency of Thailand, launched its Space Krenovation Park in Chon Buri province, Thailand. SKP offers a new focus for development on the challenges of meeting global demands in geo-informatics and space technology. The opening ceremony of the Space Krenovation Park (SKP) on 28 November 2012 presided over by Nirut Kunnawat, Advisor to the Minister of Science and Technology.

Dr. Anond Snidwongs, Executive Director, GISTDA, informed Geospatial Media that the Park will serve three purposes. It will be GISTDA’s operation centre to control the THEOS satellite and also to receive the images from various other satellites. It will serve as an incubator for young entrepreneurs in the country to set up their business. GISTDA will provide some incentives for them to establish their businesses. The Park will also serve as a training centre, both long and short term training, on applications of satellite technology as well as on-the-job training.

GISTDA has built a concrete partnership with the potential entrepreneurs by inviting them setting up a branch, subsidiary company or regional office at the site of the business zone of the Space Krenovation Park to take advantages of its clustering, market connectivity, in Thailand & ASEAN and co-creating solution values together, in response to growing demand. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed between SKP, GISTDA and its business partners.
