Terrace Bay in Canada will be implementing a GIS technology project in the community.
The integration of GIS will provide the community with tools to support improved economic development planning. Community groups such as local the chamber of commerce, the Community Futures Development Corp., along with businesses will find the introductory interactive tools to the GIS to be beneficial in the planning and marketing of new opportunities, according to an official with the town. The localites understand that the introduction of GIS technology can improve servicing routing, track maintenance activities and plan future infrastructure development. FedNor is contributing $5,000 toward the $30,000-project. Northwestern Ontario Technology Centre, as well as private firms like GeoSpatial TimberLine and CANUSA Travel Systems will contribute in-kind services.
