UK: Telmap5, mobile location companion of Telmap, has been awarded the Global Telecoms Business (GTB) Innovation Award 2010, in the location-based service innovation category for its successful partnership with Israeli mobile network operator Pelephone, in powering the Pelephone’s GPS Navigator+. The GTB Innovation Awards are organised by the GTB publication. The award was presented at a ceremony held in London.

Telmap provides white label, hosted and managed mobile search, mapping and navigation solutions and Pelephone’s GPS Navigator+ is based on Telmap5 Mobile Location Companion, offering several innovative technologies that enable mobile operators to leverage localisation to differentiate their service both from competitors and from free offerings, as well as allowing end users to personalise it.

Oren Nissim, CEO, Telmap, said, “We understand that personalisation is of increasing importance to operators as it is proven to increase customer loyalty and we strongly believe that localisation is the first step to truly personalising the mobile location-enriched experience. We have developed Telmap5 to enable operators like Pelephone to provide creative, feature rich localised services to their subscribers.”

Guy Bauman, VP and General Manager, Value Added Services Division, Pelephone, said, “We are looking forward to offering GPS Navigator+ to our subscribers and taking mapping search and navigation to a new level for them. This win demonstrates that location-based services indeed present a major opportunity for mobile network operators around the world.”
