Tele Atlas, a provider of digital map databases and real-time traffic information in the United States and Navtrak, a provider of mobile vehicle location solutions announced an alliance to incorporate Tele Atlas data into Navtrak’s fleet applications. The new agreement solidifies Tele Atlas as one of the preferred map data vendors for Navtrak’s automatic vehicle location (AVL) solutions. Navtrak’s AVL solutions powered by Tele Atlas’ turn-by-turn map data provide users with an easy-to-use tracking system for fleet management serving a broad spectrum of industries. Users will have real-time access to vehicle information including location, speeds traveled, stop time, miles driven and “live” boundary-crossing notifications via text and full cartographic display. The data will include street names and addresses and more than 30 categories of destinations or points of interest such as gas stations, hotels and one-way streets. Tele Atlas’ gives fleet operators the ability to schedule deliveries in a way that meets customers’ delivery time windows and minimizes the number of drivers required on each delivery day. The detailed maps make it possible for drivers not familiar with a specific area to efficiently navigate within it.
