Swedish Maritime Administration to migrate its Sysdeco chart database to Windows

Laser-Scan has recently announced that the Swedish Maritime Administration (SMA) in Norrköping, Sweden has decided to migrate their Sysdeco chart database to Windows. The project has a value of approximately 3 million Norwegian Kroner (over £250,000). SMA has been a Sysdeco customer since 1988. SMA is responsible for producing nautical charts in the Baltic and North Sea. As with other hydrographic bodies they are intensely committed to safety at sea. SMA’s area of responsibility is an extensive archipelago that is criss-crossed by many narrow fairways.

SMA produces paper and electronic charts to navigate these waters, for ice-breaking, search and rescue and hydrographics. In addition to paper charts, Electronic Nautical Charts to S57 standard are produced and used in the on-board Electronic Chart Display and Information System.
