Taiwan: SuperGeo Technologies won the 6th ‘Gold Map Award’ for ‘Taiwan Biodiversity Network.’ The award was presented by Taiwan Geographic Information Society (TGIS), recognises the outstanding applications and technical innovation of GIS technologies.
Unlike other biodiversity websites, Taiwan Biodiversity Network includes various application services, such as web map services, personal survey track, blog embedding, and several analytical applications. The public can freely access the website to share and query the rich biodiversity data on visualised maps.
Combining the techniques of WMS, SuperWebGIS, SuperGIS Mobile Engine, API Services, VGI (Volunteered Geographic information), and Web 2.0, Taiwan Biodiversity Network successfully demonstrates the diverse biological data and its distribution on maps. This GIS platform not only popularizes bio-data and resources, but also contributes to the ecology conservation and sustainable development for the environment.
The company has also received Best Promotion Service award. This is the 4th time for SuperGeo to gain this award, in addition to ‘Best Product Technology’ and ‘Best Application Systems’ in the previous years.
Meanwhile, SuperGeo announced that SuperGIS Image Server, a set of large scale image server enterprise software, effectively manages large scale of raster data. It has managed such data for the Institute of Transportation, Taiwan. In addition, the company has established ‘e-Bus Information System’ for Kinmen County, Taiwan. This system enables users to query real-time bus information and plan the best tourist routes combining the local cultures in a convenient way. The company hopes that the system will boost tourism industry in Kinmen.
