Strathcona County receives award

Strathcona County was presented with an Award of Excellence at ESRI Canada’s fourth annual ESRI Regional User Conference in Edmonton. Neil Cory, Account Manager, ESRI Canada, presented the Award in recognition of Strathcona County’s many GIS accomplishments. More than 150 GIS professionals were on hand for the presentation, which was one of the
highlights of the conference.

Strathcona County’s GIS is a major aspect of the County’s corporate IT strategy. Many departments within the organization have started to use and leverage GIS datasets for various projects. These departments have established partnerships with outside organizations, specializing in particular areas, to build and deploy GIS applications to be used by non-technical county staff. Strathcona County’s GIS accomplishments include the Coll ision, Traffic, and Road Inventory System (COTRIS), a computer-aided
dispatch and routing application for E9-1-1 calls, and the Property Locator.
