Stalin seeks Centre’s help on drinking water source

Chennai, India, July 4, 2007: Local Administration Minister M K Stalin said that the Central Government should launch a new programme with 100 per cent financial assistance for sustaining drinking water source. Speaking at ‘Rural Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation’ conference in New Delhi. In order to identify the ideal locations for construction of large recharge structures, it is necessary to use remote sensing and GIS technologies, said Stalin and urged the Centre to fully fund the State’s efforts in this regard.
