Thornton based Space Imaging has signed an exclusive agreement with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) of Montreal, Canada, to sell new aviation geo spatial products derived from Space Imaging’s IKONOS satellite, and the Indian Remote Sensing (IRS) and Landsat satellites. The IATA represents more than 270 airlines comprising 95 percent of all international scheduled air traffic.

The new products will increase air transport safety and efficiency for airlines and airports. Four categories of products will be sold under the IATA brand. One of the products is satellite imagery of airports that include visual representations of ground obstacles. Another product would be aeronautical terrain and obstacle databases. The other 2 products are Airport Mapping Databases (AMDB) that conform to the aviation industry’s international standard & aviation visual simulation databases for desktop, flight training devices (FTD) and full-motion simulators.
