Southern Mapping selects Norman Banks as next CEO

South Africa: Norman Banks will take over the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Southern Mapping from February 15, 2012, onwards, announced Peter Moir, present CEO of the company. In addition, Jannie Engelke will take up the position of new Business Director, controlling marketing and sales.
After official “changing of guard” in February, Moir will be directing the operations department and Jim Vaughan will remain as the Technical Director. Southern Mapping Geospatial, a branch of Southern Mapping, will not be affected by the change and Dumi Sibandze will remain as its CEO.
Moir also informed that the company obtained approval of the South African Civil Aviation to operate P68 Partenavia Observer with its laser system and cameras, according to Peter Moir, CEO of Southern Mapping.
Recently the company acquired P68 helicopters and blimps. It has twin engines, a wide range and extended flight time. A plexi glass cockpit gives the pilot better visibility to cover the area directly below and bomb-day doors provide full protection of the laser equipment.
