Sound map of South America unveiled

Chile: Fernando M. Godoy, Director of Tsonami Sound Art Festival, unveiled a sound map, audiomapa.org, of South America. The sound map is a collaborative platform dedicated to the soundscape of South America. Audiomapa.org is an online map of environmental sound, urban sound, cultural, animal, mechanical, submarines etc.

Anyone can participate and contribute to the sound map. The map also allows continuous playback of records to select modes Random, by category or sound journey from the Listen tab.

The audios use free licenses and are available for all non-commercial creative use. “Environmental recordings are unedited,” said Godoy. “The Audiomapa can be used either to preserve the intangible heritage for an artistic reason or can be used by educational or scientific utilities.”
