UK: Edinburgh based mobile mapping software developer, Sigma Seven, recently secured a three-year contract worth £1 million to supply mobile mapping software to utility giant, UK Power Networks. According to the terms of the contract, Sigma will supply its GeoField mapping software and technical support to around 2,500 UK Power Networks' field engineers mapping 170,000 km of power lines across London and the South East.
Sigma Seven's software will be integrated to UK Power Networks’ GE Smallworld GIS (geographic information system) and SAP Asset Management systems, enabling field engineers to view and update GIS and asset data electronically in the field. The decision to adopt the GeoField software is part UK Power Networks’ Business Transformation Programme (BTP) to enhance all of its operational processes and related IT systems.
The contract also mandates Sigma Seven to provide round-the-clock technical support for GeoField.
