Susquehanna Industrial Development Corporation (SIDCO)of US has completed a set of maps of zoning and infrastructure in Montour, Northumberland, Snyder and Union counties, announced SIDCO president Barry Miller.
The maps were unveiled by SIDCO representatives at a monthly meeting of the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce. “This project represents an important step toward regional economic development planning in the Greater Susquehanna Valley,” said Miller.
The set of GIS maps prepared by SIDCO, in cooperation with the electronic mapping department of SEDA-COG, show zoning, public water and sewer service areas, active railroads, potential brownfields, telephone service providers, cellular telephone towers and the availability of DSL, cable and wireless Internet service in the four counties.
This project is the first time that any group has developed comprehensive maps of zoning and infrastructure have been developed for the four-county region.
These maps were used by SIDCO’s Visions Task Force during the organization’s strategic planning process and will be employed in future economic development planning.
