UAE – The UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum lauded Dubai Municipality’s efforts in the field of e-government services during his visit to the Municipality stall at Gitex 2008.
The Municipality stall, which is part of the Dubai e-Government pavilion, is showcasing its role in e-Government services and its achievements since its launch in October 2001.
Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah, Acting Director General of Dubai Municipality, who briefed Sheikh Mohammed on the Municipality’s e-government services gave a presentation on the latest applications in the field of integrated systems in IT and projects, e- services related to GIS and advanced technologies used in the Municipality.
The Ras Al Khor Natural Sanctuary monitoring project, environmental fines voice portal, and the GIS Map Printing project were demonstrated before Sheikh Mohammed.
Lootah said the Municipality’s participation in the exhibition showcases the progress that has been achieved in the e-Government sector in Dubai as the exhibition gives a good opportunity to know the latest in the field of Information Technology.
He said that the Municipality is announcing 12 new projects or systems during Gitex.
‘The e-Services that are being implemented by the Municipality and provided to the companies and individuals are being demonstrated at the exhibition,’ said Lootah.
He said that during the exhibition, a draw will be conducted to choose the winners from the list of the users of e-Pay system of the Municipality for Building Licensing Services, Health Certificate of the Clinic, Foodstuff Import and Re-export and Foodstuff Testing.
The winner will be given a lap top computer.
Using interactive screens, the Municipality e-Services are demonstrated in the exhibition and the visitors can access information on the services of the Municipality they prefer.
Visitors can also participate in free training, which is being held as a social service alongside Gitex 2008.
Registration for this can be done at the Municipality stall and also on the website of Gitex.
The participants’ name will be chosen through a draw and the training will be held once the Gitex is over.
The training courses include Advance MS word, Advance MS Excel, MS Project, Internet Explorer, MS Access and Adobe Photoshop.
