Sharjah: The Sharjah GIS Centre (SGC) has launched its Project Tracking System (PTS) to track the progress of various construction projects in the Emirate of Sharjah.
The Sharjah GIS Center acts as the primary source for the collection and exchange of geographic information and services between government departments and other institutions in the Emirate of Sharjah. The Project Tracking System offers the possibility to follow-up on various construction projects using Geographical Information Systems, and it is being used widely by the Sharjah Municipality and the Department of Public Works. Using the system, the decision-makers can access the construction projects and view their stages on a single map of the city. It shows existing, delayed or terminated projects according to their geographical location along with the name of project executing agency. The system also allows the user to view related details about each project. The user can thus control and monitor the progress of construction projects from roads, buildings and services and display them on a map along with aerial photos. Besides, the proposed projects can also be displayed on the map, which will help the decision-makers to take appropriate decision by approving or rejecting the project according to the state of other projects in the same locations.
