South Korea: After observing that some citizens have experienced difficulty getting to their desired location within the massive venue, the Seoul Metropolitan Government has introduced a 3D indoor route-planner and navigation app.
Using 3D mapping technologies and photographs of the hall, users can navigate the Seoul Citizens Hall easily and intuitively through their mobile devices. This 3D mapping initiative has been expanded to critical and popular sites including 105 subway stations, 56 public buildings and two underground shopping centres in the City.
The Government plans to release all these maps publicly so that businesses and citizens can leverage the geo-data. Besides the opportunities for new services and businesses, the City authority believes that the location-based data can improve emergency resilience and response when information of escape routes and exits are placed in the hands of the people.
