Pleasanton, USA, 19 December 2006 – ScanControl, Inc., provider of GIS and mobile software solutions, has announced new enhancements to CropTrak software. Data can now be extended by capturing digital images, storing them in the product database and linking to them directly from a map interface.
The latest release of the CropTrak and other co-branded mobile software delivers the ability to capture and store digital images in conjunction with a GPS coordinate reference. A device like the iPAQ hw6515 can be used to capture an image that the user can then attach to a field note and store in the underlying SQL CE database.
Audio files could also be used if desired. The imagery can be viewed as clickable points on a map layer once the mobile device is synchronized with the host system. Delivery to a map interface is completely automated. This capability offers additional field data documentation capabilities that eliminate possible misinterpretation using easily obtainable inexpensive smartphone hardware. The mobile software is being used increasingly to provide worker and food safety assurance in the field.
