Satyam Computer Services Ltd has announced a strategic tie-up with Pronounced Technologies LLC (PTL), a US-based company providing voice-based vehicle navigation systems, to offer navigation solutions.
The agreement with PTL would cover the setting up of an India Design Centre (IDC) within the next few days. This centre will serve as an offshore development centre to support PTL’s development needs.
Simultaneously, Satyam will use PTL’s voice interactive technology applied to Satyam’s proprietary content for a CNS. The company has been developing through R&D, GIS and navigation related intellectual property over the last one year. With this arrangement, Satyam plans to pilot in leading Indian cities a voice interactive CNS.
The Chief Executive Officer of Pronounced Technologies, Mr Henry Wong, said he was excited about this alliance and was looking forward to a long-term and mutually beneficial partnership.
Pronounced Technologies, has developed a voice interactive navigation system and smart chips that turned portable CD players into dynamic navigation and multimedia devices.
The potential of CNS is considered high worldwide and this technology offering takes the help of global positioning system (GPS) receivers that receive signals from three of the 24 GPS satellites orbiting the Earth. They help ascertain the exact position of the vehicle and at the same time, sensors in-built in the unit record movement and advise the driver accordingly.
