Germany: Researchers at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) are using satellite images for selective monitoring of the impact of climate change on water.
Earlier, divers used to monitor the growth of waterweeds. The method was both time consuming and costly. Now, satellite imagery has provided a much faster and cost effective solution to researchers. Researchers at TUM regularly analyse satellite images to know the status of waterweed growth in different seasons. Satellite imagery has also enabled them to know the impact of climate change on water bodies.
