Rwanda to introduce GIS in school curriculum

Kigali, Rwanda: Ministry of Education, Rwanda, intends to introduce GIS into the school curriculum, said Dr Marie-Christine Gasingirwa, Director General for Science, Technology and Research in the Ministry of Education.

“We want to introduce GIS in the curriculum and there is no way teachers would teach it without being trained,” said Gasingirwa who was addressing the GIS training week for secondary teachers at Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (KIST).

This was the third group of teachers who received training in studying GIS software. About 60 secondary teachers are being imparted training by ESRI, Rwanda together with the Ministry of Education.
