Bangalore, India, 26 May 2006: Rolta India bagged the Geospatial Company of the Year award at the Indian Geospatial Awards 2005 for leading the Indian geospatial industry and providing geo-engineering and GIS solutions and services in the country and across the world.
National Remote Sensing Agency professional surveyor L. R. A. Narayan has been conferred with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions in the fields of surveying, cartography, photogrammetry and Remote Sensing applications. He had carried out several surveys and mapping projects, especially the successful project in the North East during the Chinese aggression.
The Ministry of Agriculture was conferred the Award of Excellence for Geospatial Usage for its enthusiasm and commitment in utilising geospatial technologies through the implementation of Crop Acreage and Production Estimation project across the country. The award was also given to the National Institute of Health and Family Welfare and the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, for using geospatial technologies for implementing the Annual Sentinel Surveillance Information System for HIV project.
Speaking after giving away the annual awards Planning Commission Member Secretary Rajiv Ratan Shah said the awards would bring together the whole industry to applaud the companies and people achieving highest standards in the segment and contributing to the growth and development of the fledgling spatial industry in the country.
