Rolta announces joint venture with Thales

Mumbai, India, 17 August 2006: Rolta has announced on August 17 its joint venture (JV) with Land & Joint Systems division of Thales, to be headquartered in Mumbai in India. To be owned 51% by Rolta and 49% by Thales, the JV will take advantage of technology transfer from Thales for developing state-of-the-art Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (C4ISTAR) information systems, for domestic and international markets. The initial authorised capital of the joint venture will be Rs. 50 crore (USD 10.5 million)

K. K. Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, Rolta India, said the joint venture would be incorporated on receipt of necessary approvals in the next two to three months.

Mr. Bruno Rambaud, Directeur Général (Senior Vice President), Thales Land & Joint Systems Division, stated, “The creation of this joint venture will be a significant milestone in our development within the Indian Defence and Homeland security markets.” He added that his company was also looking forward to setting up two more joint ventures in India over the next two years in the areas of aerospace and securities.
