Richland County has selected Woolpert LLP to perform geodetic control surveying in support of the county’s policy on digital submittals.
All digital submittals for engineering design plans and subdivision plats must be referenced to the South Carolina State Plane Coordinate System (SC SPCS). To help South Carolina engineering and surveying firms meet this requirement, Woolpert will establish a geodetic network referencing the SC SPCS using the North American Datum of 1983 (NAD83) and the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88). This network will enable local firms to tie their plans to the SC SPCS and include them in Richland County’s geographic information system (GIS).
Woolpert will provide the necessary densification of control station pairs at an approximate two-mile grid spacing. The new control monuments will then be “bluebooked” and published with the National Geodetic Survey as a first order horizontal control station.
Woolpert LLP, ranked by ENR as a top national design firm, is a professional engineering and architecture consulting firm providing expertise in facilities planning and design, geographic information systems/information technology, photogrammetry, site/civil design, surveying/global positioning systems, transportation and water management.
