Resource GIS and Imaging Ltd. (RGI) has announced the production of a 12.5m natural colour Landsat 7 mosaic of Canada. The digital, 12.5m pixel, three band colour mosaic of Canada is produced from the 15m resolution Panchromatic and 30m resolution Multispectral Bands of Landsat 7 satellite imagery. Resampling the image data to 12.5m pixels during the transformation from satellite path oriented images to the map oriented mosaic preserves most of the resolution of the original Landsat 7 data. RGI distributes Landsat 7 images and value added products under sublicense from Natural Resources Canada, the Canada Centre for Remote Sensing (CCRS).
The 12.5m Natural Colour Landsat 7 Mosaic will be available for all of Canada, with the exception of the extreme northern areas which are beyond the reach of the CCRS Prince Albert and Gatineau satellite ground stations. The mosaic will be distributed by the 1o by 2 o, 1:250k NTS map tile at an initial price of $800 CDN per tile. Over much of Western Canada, where the mosaic is already built, 15 min by 30 min, 1:50k NTS map tiles are available at an initial price of $200 CDN per map tile. These prices include unlimited use of the data within any company or government agency. Additional fees will apply for any redistribution of the mosaic data.
