US: Online on-demand access of geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) is the first goal of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency’s (NGA) vision, according to Barry Barlow, Director of the Acquisition Directorate of the NGA.
In conversation with Defense Systems, Barlow stated that the NGA’s second goal is broadening and deepening analysis and within that is the third goal, which is to put in place the changes that are transforming our business processes.
Barlow explained, “The first goal of online on-demand activity is the one that is more germane to the acquisition of latest technologies. There is a set of things NGA is doing now in several areas, an example of which is GEOINT Visualization Service”. He added, “Google Earth visualisation capability is being integrated with social media tools such as chat and instant messenger capabilities, so that as an event is occurring, NGA could provide updates in real time.”
